I Believe in Myself

Recently I was sitting in session with the mastermind group and we were going over a worksheet. For the activity, the requirement is that the first line must be, “I believe in myself.” Then there were several other prompts for filling in the rest of the sheet. However, that line really struck me. It’s so simple and yet can really change everything.

Do you believe in yourself? I mean really. Think of something or someone that you have an unwavering belief in. You know, no matter the circumstances, you can count on this belief. I can state unequivocally that I have an unwavering belief in the power of love and gratitude. I can also say that I have a 90 - 99% unwavering belief in myself sometimes, and 100% belief in myself most of the time. Because, if I’m being honest, sometimes I waver. What’s important is when I do waver, it’s what I do that helps bring me back.

Spiritual Practice

That’s the answer. Spiritual Practice. When I have moments of non-belief, I rely on spiritual practice to help me remember what I believe. And if I am having self-doubt, then I need to remember that I believe in myself.

I believe in my ability to do whatever needs to be done to get whatever I desire. I believe in the power of love and gratitude. I believe that laughter truly heals. I believe a really good hug can help shed years of self-doubt. I believe in myself.

By creating opportunities to remember my inner light, my self-belief, my joy, I create the perfect spaces for peace, gratitude, and expansion.

~ Here’s The Thing ~

The Thing is, for this to all work, I have to believe in it. I know. I know what this sounds like. I know it sounds like I’m giving directions to someone that’s lost, and I say, “just start at the beginning and then make a right”. Your belief really does start with belief.

You do need to believe in yourself and you have to believe in the practice. Let’s start at the beginning.

First, let’s look at the phrase, I believe in myself. Do you? Do you believe in yourself? Even if you second guess yourself regularly, do you have a baseline belief in yourself? That is where this begins for you. Make a list of all of the things that you truly believe in yourself. Think about it. Get into the feeling place of it. Any spiritual practice that you do is intended to help you get back to this feeling of belief in Self.

What if you think that you don’t have any belief in Self? What if you are filled with Self-doubt? What if you can’t even read the words, I believe in myself, without cringing or shaking your head in disbelief? Then believe in the practice. Read that line up there, it’s about belief in Self, and belief in the practice. Sometimes when you absolutely can’t find belief for Self, your belief in the practice is what gets you through.

I would like to be clear at this juncture that I am not speaking about rituals. A ritual is an external act or action done in a prescribed manner, repeatedly. Spiritual practice is an intentional action taken according to your need, focused on an internal process, and done consistently. Both are moments of sacred opportunity.

I make this distinction because I want you to understand the power in the difference. You create the practice. You decide the intention. You are what makes it a spiritual practice. So, it doesn’t matter how someone else does it, what matters is if the action helps you get back to your center, feel peace, and connection to Self. I’m not here to tell you what to do. Do whatever works for you, as long as you do it with some consistency.

Did you notice that distinction - repeatedly versus consistently? See that’s the rub. To get the most out of spiritual practice you have to do it consistently. You have to practice.

Yes, meditation. Yes, affirmative prayer. Yes, a regular sacred connection to your body temple. Yes, stones and crystals! Yes, journaling. Yes, mirror work. Yes, sound baths. Yes, beach days, mountain days, desert days, canyon days, hiking days, biking days, and days on the river. Yes filling your mind with positive thoughts. Yes, laughter. Yes surrounding yourself with people that feed your soul. Yes, finding teachers to teach you more ways of sacred practice. All of these are ways to create a spiritual practice in your life. Which ones feel right for you? Which ones will you do consistently? Which ones will you rely on to help you find belief in Self?

See, when you’re in that space of belief. When you are feeling your sacred connection to Source Energy, that’s when you are able to say unwaveringly, I believe in myself! As usual, I’ve got a crystal to help!

Apophyllite

Apophyllite was in our crystal kit in 2020. This is high on my list of crystals I think everyone could benefit from working with.

Apophyllite’s message for you is “perfection is my natural state of being”. Before you tell me all of the reasons that this isn’t true, don’t. You won’t convince me with the lies you are telling yourself. This isn’t about self-aggrandizing either. This is what’s true. Everyone is perfectly themselves.

See when issues of self-doubt arise, very often it’s connected to judgment and worthiness. This crystal reminds you that you are a perfect and complete you. There is no other you, so there can be no imperfection, there’s no other with whom to compare.

Yes. There are always opportunities for growth, learning, and expansion. That has nothing to do with your perfection.

So, when you’ve chosen the spiritual practice that works best for you, allow apophyllite to join you and remind you that you are perfect.

Remember there’s a Full Moon tonight and tomorrow. Charge those crystals in tonight’s full Sturgeon Moon. The full moon is always a great time to cement your spiritual practice. Howl at the moon and feel your belief in yourself. I will be thinking of you tonight because I believe in you!
