A Celebration of Light & Possibility
Hello Friend!
It is the eve of my favorite day of the year, after my birthday and anniversary, of course, Summer Solstice! As a recap, June 21 is officially the first day of summer and is known as Summer Solstice or Midsummer. It is the day with the most amount of sunlight of the year, here in the Northern Hemisphere. For some, it is said that the celebrations and traditions help you see your future beloved. It is celebrated all over the world and considered a day of fertility. It is ripe with summer fruits like tomatoes, and ripe, for me, as a day holding the most possibility.
For those that experience it as a special day in the year, as I do, it is a big day of celebration. Even if you don’t have a cultural tradition of celebrating solstice, you can still celebrate that which it symbolized, light. I have friends that used to go up to the mountains in Colorado and spend the morning in sacred dance and prayer, with drummers drumming up the light. In past years, I’ve spent the morning doing Sun Salutations at my friend’s yoga studio, and I’m not the only one, it is now known as International Day of Yoga. I’ve even led small groups through one-day expanded awareness retreats. Whatever happens, it is always about celebration and gratitude for the light, sacred connection, and possibilities that come to light. . The most well-documented tradition is the gathering at Stonehenge. If you, can’t get to England tomorrow, you can catch the celebration on the English Heritage YouTube channel. No matter the tradition, so many things are revealed in the light and that is what I am preparing myself for.
This year I’m doing something different. I am spending the first half of the day alone in meditation & visualization and the second half with friends in celebration. When it was revealed to me, during meditation last month, that in July I would be hosting a Mastermind, I had to begin preparing. In all honesty, I had really been focusing my energy in another direction. So when this was revealed, I realized I needed to prepare for what is to come with this group next month. Solstice offers the best opportunity to slow down, get still, and wait for what the light will bring. Tomorrow’s light will show me how to be the best guide for the participants. That’s why I’m excited for this! If you’re looking for clarity, joining a group of people finding their own clarity can really shine a light in your darkness. And being the one to teach the group, always helps me remain focused and clear, and brings wisdom I’m not aware of. Tomorrow’s meditation & visualization time is going to be ripe with answers and I’ve already decided the Solstice Dinner I’m hosting is about to become a new annual addition to the day’s celebrations.
So, even if you’ve never celebrated Summer Solstice before, I’m going to invite you to start tomorrow.
~ Here’s The Thing ~
Regardless of what you do or don’t believe, there is an indisputable fact at play here - tomorrow is literally got more light than any other day of the year. In the northern-most region of China they will get 17+ hours of daylight. And you don’t even have to go that far! Sunrise is at 6:03 AM and sunset, here in Baton Rouge isn’t until 8:09 PM tomorrow. Then there’s always at least another 30 minutes or so of daylight after the sun sets. This means there will be 14+ hours of daylight tomorrow! 14+ hours means even if you work a 12-hour shift, starting at sunrise, you will still have (2) more hours of sunlight to celebrate the light and the possibilities. So, even if you have a full day at work and other plans or responsibilities, tomorrow there will be enough light left in the day to still spend some time focusing on the life you are creating. Even if you are low on the “woo scale” and aren’t ready to start drumming up the light and spending the whole day celebrating you can see how this extra light can offer you time for something more. There will be enough time to carve out just for you.
Join me in starting a new tradition. Celebrate the Light of Possibility!
Look at your schedule tomorrow and find time, it can be any time, my suggestion is at the beginning or end of the day. Take time to sit in gratitude for the light, allow yourself to sit still opening yourself up for what’s possible. If you’re feeling extra sensual or sexy, think about a way to celebrate feeling good in your skin. If you are in transition phase and aren’t sure which direction to take, give yourself time in the day to believe anything is possible. When you really think about it, there have been times when you were in darkness, to yourself or about your circumstances. Maybe it was yesterday! Let tomorrow, Summer Solstice, be the day you focus on the light. Let tomorrow be the day you turn away from the problems and focus on the possibilities.
BTW - I am writing more, teaching more, and having a lot more conversations about what a Spiritual Life Coach does. If you want to stay in the know, please be sure to become a subscriber. That’s how you get extra content, exclusive learning opportunities, and chances to win cool stuff!
Meanwhile, here is an article about crystals for self-compassion and one about crystals for manifestation that I was able to contribute. I love this, don’t you?! I always love the idea that there is a list of stones and crystals that can help you experience life the way you want it. Plus, there are shopping opportunities within each article!
Food for thought: while this is fun, it’s always about how are you going to use the stones and whether you will do it consistently? If you buy that necklace with the rhodochrosite for compassion for Self, will you speak compassionate words to yourself each time you wear it? Or, will it turn into that pretty pink necklace that goes perfectly with that one dress? Use your stones and crystals friend, they’re more than pretty shiny things! Don’t know where to start? Buy my book!
Until next time, remember you are ILLIMITABLE! Go out and create a life that rocks!
