The Moon, Mercury & May Oh My!
I pay attention to a lot of different things when I’m working out what to focus on each month. I am on several people’s email lists. I watch different people on YouTube. I think about what my clients are talking about. I also pay attention to things going on in the universe. We are one with the entire Universe. So, if there’s something going on “out there”, that is going to be reflected “in here”.
So, I was sitting down to work on my plans for this last weekend’s New Moon. However, it wasn’t just a New Moon. It was a Blue Moon because it was the second in the month of April. This means the energy is extra special & unique. It is also the beginning of an eclipse season because it was also a Solar Eclipse! Then I realized that the Full Moon on May 16 is also a Lunar Eclipse. That’s a lot going on and it got me thinking a bit more. May is also the beginning of Mercury Retrograde in Gemini. It actually starts right in the middle of the eclipse portal. This just got me doing even more research. I read several people’s thoughts about what opportunities all of this celestial activity is opening up for us. Then I thought about what stones and crystals I think would be useful for all that is to come. Let’s take it in order:
Black Moonstone, Citrine & Emerald
New Moon/Solar Eclipse (NMSE) on April 30 - A New Moon is always about new beginnings. An eclipse is about bringing anything up that has been “eclipsed” or hidden from view. My go-to stone for a New Moon is usually black moonstone. Makes sense right? Here are a couple more reasons why the black moonstone is my choice for NMSE stone. When we are talking about revealing what’s been hidden, this is because whatever blocks you have been experiencing up to this point, must be revealed in order to remove them. If you are to expand beyond what you’ve dreamed for your life, then you must understand what you are allowing to hold you back. Black Moonstone allows you to open up to new thoughts, and new beginnings, releasing old energy no longer serving you. This NMSE energy is all about bringing awareness to your emotions and alerting you to what you’ve been overlooking. Mercury begins Retrograde in Gemini on May 10 - don’t groan. It’s all okay. You don’t have to hide. MR has a bad reputation. However, I think it’s important to remember what it’s really about…slowing down and paying attention to the details. While yes, I will admit, there is something that seems to happen with technology during a retrograde. And I’m sure someone somewhere is working on a study that shows vibrationally or electromagnetically what happens to the planets when Mercury slows down in its orbit. What I know is to stock up on new phone cords, back up all of my files, and give an extra hour at the airport. If we go with the understanding that MR is really about paying attention, rethinking, and revisioning. Then it being in Gemini means that you’ll be able to see things from a different perspective, in a different light. So, each thing that you encounter during a retrograde is there to help you slow down and rethink your actions. And since we know that all things are working for our greatest good, I chose Emerald for our retrograde crystal. It’s all about being abundant and having really great skills. It’s literally about having your sh*t together! Say it with me - I AM focused and fortunate. This is the best way to go into an MR, prepared, alert, and abundant. Remember the energies of this one will be particularly activated because it’s coming in the middle of an eclipse season. Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse (FMLE) on May 16 - A Full Moon is about amplified energy. It’s about things coming to fruition. It’s about empowering you to make a positive change. It’s about an overflowing emotional shift to release. Read those last statements again…yep I said, amplified energy, positive change, overflowing emotion, and release. Remember, this is also a lunar eclipse. This is about allowing bigger and deeper things to come to light. During a lunar eclipse, the light gets diffused and you see details differently. It’s got to come up to be seen, so then you can let it go. Don’t be scared! This is the good stuff! Yes, you will feel it as it’s coming up. You will also feel it as you let it go. Think about how good that kind of deep sacred release will be. It’s the only way to expand your vision. It’s the only way to dream bigger dreams. I chose Citrine for this. Citrine is here to help you remember your brilliance. We’re not here to try and mitigate what is coming up. We’re here to remember that you can do whatever you need to do to handle life. I’ve got too much shining to do, to be eclipsed by old emotions and old ways of thinking about myself. What will you release so you can focus more light on your vision?
So here’s The Thing~
I can tell you all of this great stuff about what stones and crystals you can use for this. You may already have them, or go out and get them. The thing is, the only way they’re really going to help you is if you USE them. So, what will you do this month to keep you on your path of spiritual empowerment? Look at each of those questions I asked: How will you use this month’s energy? What’s your plan? What will you focus on?
I recommend A LOT of mindful meditation and journaling. Sit with these crystals and allow your mind to think only of your answers to those questions. Then journal what comes up. Do it every day or as often as you can. Choose a mantra to remind you of how each of these crystals is helping you. If you can’t think of a mantra consider using the I AM statements I included above. There is a lot of incredible energy available to utilize for your greatest good. You can use it if you choose it.
